A few months ago we had the honor and privilege of leading Betesda Baptist Church in worship for their 9th anniversary celebration concert. It was CLM's first concert as a ministry and God opened the doors for us to do it in this big way! It was so much fun and we had an amazing time! For this blog, we thought it would be nice to hear from the JCC singers with whom we got to share their first concert experience! We hope you enjoy!

My first thought is: ”it was good!“
Honestly, work was stressful, and at one moment, I felt that this (being part of the concert as a singer) is too big of a commitment, but I’m very thankful to God for this experience and for being able to work with this team!
During my solo part (in La Buena Vida), I felt power and a huge strength in my voice that I’ve never experience during practice or rehearsal. I was surprised and am thankful for God to have this experience. Overall, I enjoyed the expertise! It was an awesome and fun!
I think it’s important to try something that you may not feel very comfortable: Learn with a humble heart, do my best and then give it back to God.
I could do that because of God, Suro san & Ayaka san’s encouragement and guidance, and the vocal team that supported each other.
I also feel that this experience has helped JCC Miami’s worship as a whole. Being part of a concert by practicing the songs and harmonizing with others has given us experience of “we can do this” and taught us to freely worship the Lord. Practically speaking, we have more songs we can bring to JCC Miami’s Bible Study worship time. I’m very thankful to Casa López Music san’s dedication to the Lord and to serve the Lord through music.

The concert was a very enjoyable experience.
I often led worship at evening meetings at my home church in Kyoto, but this was the first time I lead a worship service in the form of a concert. It was difficult to get everyone together for rehearsals, and we didn't have all the equipment, but I think we did our best to practice. I feel there were things in the performance I could have done better, but I it was fun to sing praise after much practice.
On the practical side, I was able to learn professional ways to perform, and how to create and treat the music, and also how to use in-ear monitors. I also learned that although I did not always sing perfectly when actually praising, the best praise is singing with joy.
From a religious perspective, I was able to rediscover the beauty of praise, and I believe that praise in three different languages means that it is possible in every language on the planet. It is a joy to be able to praise in different languages with our faith to God.

It was my first time to participate in a worship concert. Since I feel I’m not a good singer I was worried about if I could participate and I would be able to memorize the lyrics, etc. but with Suro san and Ayaka san’s wonderful lead, I had a valuable experience where I could enjoy praising on stage. As the concert approached, I was in a hurry to practice more, but Suro san and Ayaka san always encouraged me.
The rehearsal seemed to be difficult to prepare and set up but seeing everyone working together encouraged me to do my best. It was also my first experience listening to music through the earpiece (in-ear monitors), and I was worried because I couldn't hear well, but I think I got used to it throughout the performance. It rained heavily on the night of the rehearsal, but thank God, the day of the concert did not rain. It was a great experience to perform with Andy from Bethesda Church as well. Through this concert, I learned the joy of praising God as one. Thank you very much!
I had never thought about joining a worship team or being the center of praise group, so I was very surprised when I was invited to join the concert. Even though I was participating in the background vocals, there was pressure to practice properly so we could sound good.
Except for the songs we recorded a year ago, all of them were new to me, but I listened to and sang them every time during the long commute. At home, I practiced by recording on my phone. It wasn’t perfect, but I think the practice paid off. I was very happy that my friends came to the concert! The arrangement of the Latin-style worship songs is also very good, and I like them too. Through this worship concert and all the days of practice, I experienced the wonderfulness and fun of praising God with worship music.
